| Things to remember in 2005
-The world I believe exists lives in my mind, right between my ears, and then I act upon what my world indicates. It is a world of wisdom and ignorance, help and harm, selfishness and selflessness, greed and generosity, and other endless opposites.
-There are other countless and immeasurable worlds: From the world between my ears to the universe itself and all that is within all existence are worlds.
-"My" world exists within the flow of all worlds. It is part of the interconnected, meshing, interdependent, non-separate flow of existence itself.
AND,
-Humans do more harm, and can do more good, than any other known life form.
-Human wisdom and compassion must be in balance because the compassion of an unaware being (without wisdom) can be very dangerous and foolhardy.
-Courage, Right Action, and Restraint are all part of Wisdom and Compassion.
-The result of Courage and Restraint, and Wisdom and Compassion, is a feeling of deep abiding Gratitude for having been born in human form.
-Deep Gratitude comes with time and understanding. It cannot come from osmosis or book reading itself. Study is a tool. Learning is a resource. Deep Gratitude is response to awareness.
-Organized religion is a system of agreement on teachings. Religion is not spirituality. Spirituality is a oneness, already existing, that we experience through faith, trust and an understanding of the nature of existence. We open ourselves to experience what is already within us, and equally, in all existence. We can deny, repress, refuse, or hide this spirituality but it is within us and the entire meshing flow of existence and not something we insert into our being because we decide to be "religous."
-There is no such thing as an ordinary life. Each of us affects the present and the future in profound ways unknown to us.

| It's a Wonderful Life (i have not seen the movie btw)
What is it that makes a meaningful life? Is it that you have someone else to share it with, a significant other if you will, or that you have good friends and family, or is it that you made some fantastic scientific discovery that cures all the diseases of humankind? Is any one life better or more important than the next?...and if so, who gets to decide?
Life is full of choices, decisions that lead us to lead one life or another. In thinking of career paths to take down the not so distant future, it is hard to graple with the idea that what might be fun on the surface, or pays a lot of money may on the other hand not be great for society. I might just have to look into grad school after all. It will buy me a few more years to think this "real world living" through.
